Carmen and I are going on yet another vacation adventure, this time to the Western Canadian Rockies.  After the land tour is completed, we continue on a Cruise along the British Columbia and Alaskan inside passage and we are letting you in on all our excitement with our blog.  We are traveling on a bus tour (land portion) with Globus on their “Grand Western Canadian Vacation” trip. The trip begins on June 10 with us flying out of Orlando, FL.  We are happy that my sister (Helen) and her husband (Charles) will accompany us on this trip, although they are not continuing on the cruise portion.

Some highlights of the trip will include stunning scenery of the Canadian Rockies with time in Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Whistler, and Sun Peaks.  We will also take the Ice Explorer ride on the 1,000-foot-thick Columbia Ice field and a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain in Banff. 

As a side note, I am also hoping the tour makes a stop at Tangle Falls which is along Route 16 in Alberta, CA.  The falls, a multi-tiered cascade, look pretty spectacular and around June 17^th, there should still be plenty of water flowing over the falls.  We’ll ask the Tour Guide if we will make a short stop; hopefully we do.  Although, based on our past experience of taking pictures of waterfalls, we will not stop anywhere long enough.  (I've got to get the picture just right so the water has that velvety flow look,)

 

During our trip, I also hope we are in a location where I can get a decent night picture. I hope to take both a good long exposure of the Milky Way and also a nice Star Trails picture. I’ll have to wait to see how much ambient light there is around the hotels we are staying in and what kind of view I get.
